Chuck Schumer showed up in Albany today, largely to show his support for the legislature’s vote to divest the state government from any companies currently doing business with Iran (Video above). Iran, as you may recall, is a country just east of Iraq. It was one of Great Britain’s oil bitches begining in 1921 with the military coup of Reza Khan—an illiterate Persian Cossack with ties to the British embassy—then briefly Britain, America and the Soviet Union’s oil bitch during WWII. Then it was briefly its own oil bitch during the 1950′s, before a CIA coup made it exclusively America’s oil bitch for much of the 20th Century. Since the 1978 Islamic revolution, Iran has been its own oil bitch again and quite hostile and racist and paranoid about becoming anyone else’s oil bitch ever, ever again, much to the great annoyance of Westerners and Israelis. Especially, post-9/11. NVR FRGT!
The creeps at Google (There: I said it.) are planning on a New York City hiring binge for 2012.
“The Carl Kruger Special Elections” are to be held on March 20th, by decree of Gov. Cuomo. This reportedly comes as something of a disappointment to state Republicans, who were hoping to time it with their presidential primary on April 24th, for obvious turnout reasons.
The LGBT community is a little upset that New York City Council Lady and mayoral hopeful Christine Quinn has been publicly nice about the promotion of Archbishop Timothy Dolan to Cardinal. (Dolan has been an impassioned opponent of marriage equality in New York state over the years.) It’s not an especially pretty move, but at least Quinn recently helped pass a resolution that corporations are not people.
Most importantly, Alec Baldwin is back on Twitter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Month long haitus over!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D
