Beyonce has been hit with a few plagiarism charges for her videos over the years. There was that famous thing where she totally stole some cool stuff from a Belgian choreographer to make an amazing video that everybody loves. Then there’s also those times when people with nothing better to do said she ripped off Bob Fosse for “Single Ladies” and also did the same thing for the “Get Me Bodied” video.

 

Now everytime Bee makes a new video, haters with long memories rack their brains to think of something that was cool before and kind of like it. We were suspicious of this alleged New Edition “tribute” in the “Love On Top” video, but when we watched it again yesterday, were kind of like “Whoa,” because this we had definitely seen before:-(

 

Don’t believe it? Mute the volume on the second video and play them simultaneously. Yeah, we’re sure Team Knowles came up with that whole “first it was day and now it’s night” thing. We’re going to have to stop you, Beyonce, because we think we’ve seen this one before!

"Handheld Devices" by Cooper Joseph Studio

New York City’s long abandoned South Street Seaport Museum has reopened to the public, featuring preserved historical interiors, with sixteen beautifully refurbished galleries of original artwork, local artifacts, and films.

 

Over 1300 people attended the opening reception on January 25th, weaving through the maze of intimate galleries, sipping wine, and snacking on artisanal breads and cheeses from local businesses.

 

The museum has been taken over by the Museum of the City of New York (MCNY), and now features lovely blue walls and . Highlights of the collection include the Timescapes film, a history of New York, and preserved sailor graffiti from the building’s original walls. There is also an Occupy Wall Street photography exhibit, which made for an interesting contrast with the rest of the exhibits.

 

The South Street Seaport Museum is now open to the public from 10am to 6pm Wednesday through Sunday, and costs only $5. Plus, you get free admission to MCNY within the following seven days!

New York Journal favorite Frankie Rose is back with a new album and a more immediate sound, if first single “Know Me” is any sign. While her debut, Frankie Rose and the Outs (2010) was full of dreamy drones and lush harmonies and all that, “Know Me” puts a strong melody and a club ready beat right up front. Basically, she’s gunning for the top.
